Feather guide Material clarity Sample-led specification

Feather buying guide

The cut is only one part of the specification.

Factories sort natural feathers by species, wing side, shaft condition, curvature and finished vane shape. Names can vary between suppliers, so every order should be matched to a physical sample and written specification.

Material shortcut

Duck for value-led training. Goose for flight-led play.

Duck feathers are generally firmer and often selected for durability, regular training and cost-conscious club programmes. Goose feathers are generally more supple and commonly preferred when buyers prioritise flight feel, consistency and control.
